The Zimbabwe Information and Technology Empowerment Trust (ZITET) is a registered non-profit non-governmental organisation that aims to promote digital equity in under-resourced communities through capacity building and professional development initiatives, advocacy, research, and information dissemination. ZITET promotes digital equity to ensure that communities in Zimbabwe have access to information, enabling technologies and digital skills that are central in the technological era. Access to information and technology forms the foundation and acts as a catalyst to human capital development, stimulates the community’s creative capabilities and enhances their critical thinking skills that are vital for sustainable development. Our goal in the next three (3) years is to provide digital literacy training to 1, 500 young women and to also set up a fully functional information and technology centre in one of the marginalised rural communities in Zimbabwe. The organisation uses various strategies such as the mainstream media, social media, community leaders, government departments, and community visits to reach out to programme beneficiaries.
